Extension privacy policy
Last updated 17 October 2026. This policy covers the Lowtide browser extension (UK price & trip finder), which is still in development. It's separate from the privacy policy for theBattleship's shop.
Who we are
The extension is made and run by theBattleship, a small UK business run by Will. You can reach us at will@battleship.me.
When the extension runs
Only when you click its icon. It has no part that runs in the background, it doesn't watch the pages you visit, and it doesn't collect your browsing history. When you click it, it reads the page in the tab you're looking at, and no other tabs.
What it reads and sends
When you click the icon, the extension reads the product details that page already shows: the product name, brand, model number, barcode (such as an EAN), price, and the page's web address. It sends these to our server so we can look up prices for the same product. It also sends a random ID created when you install the extension, which is used only to manage usage limits, and a Pro licence key if you have one. The random ID isn't linked to your name, email address or account, because there isn't one.
What we don't collect
- Your browsing history or the pages you visit without clicking the icon
- Form contents, passwords or payment details from any page
- Your name or email address, unless you choose to email us or buy Pro
We don't use advertising trackers and we don't sell your data.
How we use the data
Only to find and show prices for the product you asked about, to apply usage limits, and to keep the service working and secure. Product details may be passed to the retailer and affiliate network data services we use to look up prices. Those requests come from our server, not from your browser.
What's stored and for how long
In your browser, the extension stores its random ID, your settings and any Pro licence key. Removing the extension deletes them. On our server, search results are cached for up to an hour to keep things fast. Basic server logs (the time and which feature was used) are kept for up to 30 days to fix faults. We don't keep a record of the products you've looked up linked to your ID, except for items you choose to watch with Pro price alerts, which we keep until you stop watching them.
Affiliate links
We may earn a commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. Links open only when you click "Go to offer". The shop you visit, and the affiliate network that tracks the referral, will then handle your visit under their own privacy policies.
This website
This landing page (not the browser extension) uses Travelpayouts Drive, a third-party affiliate script. If the page has travel links, Drive may turn them into affiliate links. It may set cookies or collect standard technical data under Travelpayouts' own privacy policy. The extension itself does not include this script.
Pro
Pro isn't on sale yet. When it is, payments will be handled by our payment provider, and we'll receive only what we need to give you your licence and support, such as your email address.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Email us and we'll reply within one month.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the extension starts collecting anything new, we'll ask you first.
